Top-tier employees usually go unnoticed by upper management. As a workforce, we go above and beyond to keep the company on its feet and it seems like the folks that reap the most benefits have the fewest qualifications. Nepotism ransacks corporations, leaving open the managerial positions for those with shared genetics with the C-level bosses, god-complexes, and an Associates Degree in Business.

Usually these nepo-hires also feel the need to change the company to put their own stamp on it and unfortunately for long-time staff members, that usually means someone's about to get fired. A nepo-baby boss can't fight the urge to flex their power with an employee's livelihood in their hands, making the terminations following a nepo-hire almost inevitable. However, since nepo-hires also lack the basic skills the run the company, perhaps an impromptu termination is really just a blessing in disguise.
